Lebanese mathletes win top awards in international mental calculation championship!

The Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) held this year’s international mental calculation championship for kids in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on December 10. Teams from 72 nations around the world, including Lebanon, took part in the championship. There were 2500 participants in total. The young Lebanese mathletes took home many awards!

  • 1st runner-up of the category Higher A: Gabriel Abi Saad
  • 1st runner-up of the category Elementary A: Marwan Maawiya
  • 1st runner-up of the category Basic: Farid Abi Doumit
  • 2nd runner-up of the category Intermediate B: Sandy Khalife
  • 2nd runner-up of the category Elementary B: Jean-Paul Asaad Mouawad
  • 2nd runner-up of the category Elementary B: Dia-Maria Al Doumani
  • 2nd runner-up of the category Basic: Elie Jadaa

, the Lebanese Minister of Public Health Ghassan Hasbani and several school principals welcomed the students in Beirut – Rafic Hariri International Airport. Hasbani encouraged them to develop their talents. This reminds us once again the biggest legacy of Lebanon is the potential of the youth!
