The 2022 edition of the Amman International Film Festival (AIFF) concluded after screening 49 narrative and documentary films from various countries in the region.
The films were screened in three venues across the Jordanian capital.
Along with the various winners at the AIFF, The Blue Inmates by the Lebanese director, Zeina Daccache, received a Special Mention Award for the editing by Myriam Geagea.
The Blue Inmates highlights the tough life in Lebanon’s Roumieh prison, as Daccache focuses on inmates suffering from mental illnesses as some have been in prison for years, and some are sentenced to stay in prison for life.
In the film, the Lebanese director involves mentally-healthy inmates to reflect on stories of the inmates suffering from mental illnesses.
For years, Zeina Daccache has been working to push reforms in Lebanon’s prisons and change the lives of the forgotten inmate, and preserve the sanity of future inmates.
