The Lebanese writer, director, and actor Nadine Labaki is set to be honored with the Variety International Vanguard Awards at the 2nd edition of Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea International Film Festival, along with the Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor.

The Red Sea Film Foundation is a non-profit organization that supports Saudi Arabia’s film industry in terms of production, distribution of films, and education on cinema.

“Nadine Labaki and Ranbir Kapoor are two remarkable talents in the film industry,” said Mohammed Al Turki, the Red Sea International Film Festival CEO, in a statement.

Being the winner of major awards, and more recently the Outstanding Contribution to Asia Pacific Cinema, the Oscar-nominated Lebanese actress has many acclaimed works, including Caramel; Where Do We Go Now?, which was awarded the People’s Choice Award at the Toronto Film Festival; and others.

In 2018, her film Capernaum was selected at the Cannes Film Festival. Being the first Lebanese film to be nominated for a Golden Globe, the film was ranked #71 in the Guardian’s list of the 100 Best Films of the 21st Century.
