Lebanese Government Formation Talks Just Got Back On Track

Washington Report On Middle East Affairs

Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati indicated, after meeting with President Michel Aoun, that he had submitted a government formation on the 29th of last month, and today’s discussion was about it.

Mikati added in a brief statement before leaving Baabda Palace that “the talks will continue.”

After this meeting between Mikati and Aoun, it looks like the stalemate that has dominated the government formation file for a while could finally come to an end.

With Mikati saying that the talks will be continued, more meetings between him and other officials, including President Aoun, should take place within the end of the President’s term.
