Lebanese media personality and celebrity journalist Raya Abirached was just announced as the UNHCR’s Goodwill Ambassador for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
Having already been engaged with the UNHCR through her work with MBC Group, Abirached just became the first woman from the MENA to be appointed as UNHCR’s Goodwill Ambassador.
“Abirached has been working as a High-Profile Supporter with UNHCR since 2017 and is a powerful voice and advocate for the forcibly displaced across the world,” wrote the United Nations Refugee Agency in a statement.
“I am deeply honored and humbled by being chosen as a UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador. I do not take lightly the responsibility and tasks ahead and hope, with an open heart, that I can make a small difference in the lives of those in need throughout our region,” expressed Abirached.
Abirached is the co-host of MBC’s Arab’s Got Talent and is also known for her program Scoop with Raya, where she dives into all that’s new in film and interviews top celebrities from Hollywood.
She is also a supporter of local causes such as the Lebanese Teachers Without Borders Initiative.
Her latest feat is another reason why she’s on our list of outstanding people that make us proud to be Lebanese.
