The European Broadcaster Arte has taken the rights to broadcast the Lebanese TV drama series Awake in French and German. This comes after the series was picked up by OSN, MBC, and Shahid in the Middle East, by MHZ Choice in the US, by Sooner in Europe, and by SBS in Australia.
This is the first Lebanese TV Show to be broadcast across the 5 continents and in 4 languages.
This 16 episode – drama series of Awake, or “وعيت” in its original Arabic title, is about a young woman called Dana who wakes up after 12 years from a coma unable to speak.
With the help of her family, she tries to grasp life again and work on herself only to be met with secrets that threaten her life.
Awake is starred by Flavia Bechara, Joseph Bou Nassar, Stephanie Atala, Mohamad Akil, Marie-Lou Nahhas, Patrick Chemali, Camille Salameh, Tarek Yaacoub, and many more.
It was directed by Mazen Fawaz and Sandrine Zeinoun, written by Nadia Tabbara, and produced by Momaz Flick.
The world is opening to the Lebanese entertainment industry that is paving its way internationally. Just recently, Netflix announced the release of its first original movie in the Arabic language, starring Nadine Labaki, George Khabbaz, and Adel Karam.
