A soldier suspected of shooting 2 people in the village of Mjaydel on Wednesday has handed himself over to the Lebanese Army.
The soldier, “K.K.,” was allegedly involved in a fight that broke out early Wednesday in the southern village of Mjaydel, according to the National News Agency (NNA).
The fight started between 4 people at 3 AM inside a BMW car after they had exited a club in the area.
An initial verbal confrontation escalated into a brawl, which prompted the interference of “M.A.” and “A.A.,” who tried to resolve the conflict.
This was when K.K. opened fire from a pump-action shotgun inside the car, hitting the aforementioned two individuals.
The victims were then transported to Saida Governmental Hospital by the Lebanese Red Cross and the Al-Hayaa Al-Sohiya Association, before passing away.
According to the same source, the soldier handed himself in shortly after the incident.
Later, another person, whose initials are also “K.K.,” handed himself over to security forces in Mjaydel.
Initial investigations into the incident have revealed that the people who first started the fight were under the heavy influence of alcohol at the time they exited the club.
