In May 2020, 19-year-old Aya Hachem was killed in a drive-by shooting in the United Kingdom. Over a year later, one of the accused eight people has come forth admitting to the murder.
After previously denying involvement, Zamir Raja, 33, confessed to manslaughter. He was allegedly hired by one of two disputing tire salesmen as a hitman to kill the other when Hachem was hit by a bullet instead.
Hachem, who was not the intended target, was born in Lebanon and moved to the UK as a child. She was in her second year at Salford University where she was studying to become a lawyer.
Despite pleading guilty, Raja’s trial will continue as the prosecution pursue a murder charge against him, according to Lancashire Telegraph.
