Lebanese weightlifters Khodor Munir Alaywan, Adnan Marfouse, Maarouf Tarha, and Wajih al-Binni will be participating in the Masters Weightlifting Mediterranean Championship, which is taking place between May 26th and 29th in Athens, Greece.
The Lebanese team will be arriving in Athens on Friday, May 27th.
The champs underwent prolonged training supervised by the Lebanese Weightlifting Federation for over 2 months and are expected to return with several medals.
Middle East Airlines are sponsoring Khodor Alaywan for the championships, whereas Adnan Marfouse is sponsored by Emkan NGO.
Alaywan had won a gold medal in the 2019 World Masters Weightlifting Championship in Montreal, Canada.
Maarouf Tarha was eliminated from the Weightlifting World Championship back in 2016 after getting an injury, however, in 2005 he won the Lebanese Weightlifting championship.
Wajih al-Binni secured a golden medal for the Weightlifting Masters in 2017 and Adnan Marfouse secured a gold medal in 2021 for the under 55 kg category in the World Weightlifting Masters that was held via zoom.
