Showcasing around 200 universities, the QS Arab Region University Rankings 2023 featured the region’s most prestigious academic institutions.
This year’s rankings were taken using 10 different indicators, including:
- Academic and employer reputation,
- Faculty/student ratio,
- International research network,
- Web impact, the proportion of staff with a Ph.D.,
- Citations per paper,
- Papers per faculty,
- The proportion of international faculty,
- The proportion of international students.
As usual, Lebanese universities were featured with the American University of Beirut (AUB) ranking 1st locally and 5th in the region with an overall score of 97.5.
The Lebanese University (LU) was also featured, scoring 2nd place in Lebanon and 13th in the region, with an overall score of 71.2, whereas the Lebanese American University (LAU) ranked 3rd in Lebanon and 22nd in the region with an overall score of 61.9.
Other Lebanese universities also made it on the rankings, including:
- Saint Joseph University of Beirut (USJ): #4 in Lebanon and #25 in the region
- Beirut Arab University: #5 in Lebanon and #35 in the region
- Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK): #37
- University of Balamand (UOB): #39
- Islamic University of Lebanon: #43
- Notre Dame University-Louaize (NDU): #49
- Université Antonine: #111-120
- American University of Science and Technology (AUST): #151-170
- Rafik Hariri University (RHU)y: #151-170
