Lebanese woman ranks 10th in World Weightlifting Championship

The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) organizes a championship every year. This year’s event took place between November 27 and December 5 in Anaheim, USA. Men and women from 44 nations took part in this international championship and among them is Hala Mahassen, a Lebanese weightlifting champion. According to

, her placement earned 48 team points, placing Lebanon above 9 other countries. Hala ranks 10th in her category which includes 24 athletes. She took part in two competitions:

  • Snatch Senior: 9th place (91 kilograms)
  • Clean and Jerk Senior: 11th place (113 kilograms)

Hala’s goal is to become the first woman to represent Lebanon in weightlifting at the Olympic Games.
