Lebanese Women’s Basketball Team Heading For The FIBA Asian Cup 2022

The Lebanese women’s basketball team (youth) will represent Lebanon in the Asian Championship.

The delegation of the Lebanese women’s basketball team (under 16 years old) left for the Jordanian capital, Amman, on Wednesday morning, to participate in the Asian Championship (level “B”), which will be held in Prince Hamzah Hall from 24-30 June.

The delegation included: Vice-President of the Federation Sami Nasser (chairman), Ziad Al-Natour (coach), Christina Badou and Karim Yamout (assistant coach), Christian Mujbar (physical fitness), and Rita Nehme (physiotherapist).

The international referees in the delegation are Richard El Hajj and Sergio Kassab. As for the players, they are Nour Labban, Jocelyn Jaara, Karen Hoteit, Yasma Rizk, Elisa Khoury, Elsie Ghantius, Megan Naasan, Christina Annan, Nadine Ratil, Aline Abi Mosleh, Mira Agha Hussein and Angelina Nani Badu.

Eight countries participate in the “B” level tournament, divided into two groups as follows:

Group A: Indonesia, Syria, Samoa, and the Philippines.

Group B: Kazakhstan, Lebanon, Jordan and Iran.

The team that ranked first in the tournament will qualify for the “A” level, knowing that the “B” level championship coincides with the establishment of the Asian Championship for the “A” level, which includes 8 countries.

In the first round, Lebanon will play its first match against Kazakhstan at 8:15 pm on Friday 24th, against Iran at the same time on the evening of Saturday 25th, and against Jordan at 6:00 pm on Sunday 26th.

The Lebanese women’s team qualified for the Asian countries (level “A”) last November.
