Taharok Nasawi is organizing a protest on Sunday, July 31, to stand in solidarity with women facing injustice and violence.
The main goal behind the protest is to expose the Lebanese state’s “deceptive discourse,” embedded in distorting the public’s opinion and imposing hate against marginalized people.
According to Taharok Nasawi, the Lebanese state has for years attempted to cover up all the injustice and violence against women.
The movement accuses the state of taking many institutions, including the media and other agencies, to protect rapists and those complicit in killing women, as well as suppressing Lebanon’s queer community, and exploiting migrant workers through the Kafala system.
Under the statement “We refuse, We stand in solidarity, We move: To the streets in the face of your violence,” the protest will take off from the Ring Bridge in Beirut at 11:00 am towards Ain El Mreisseh.
