Lebanon registered 2,500 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Friday, as per the Health Ministry’s daily report on the outbreak.
The new cases raise the cumulative number of COVID-19 infections in Lebanon to 491,928, of which 86,537 are active cases, considering that 398,799 recoveries and 6,592 fatalities have been confirmed in the country so far.
In the past 24 hours, 43 COVID-19 patients passed away and 3,538 others recovered, according to the report.
In the same period, 22,190 tests were administered across Lebanon to detect the virus, including 16,807 local PCR tests, 4,092 airport PCR tests, 161 PCR tests at land border crossings, and 1,130 antigen tests.
The Health Ministry’s data shows that 3,676,018 tests have been administered in Lebanon since the beginning of the pandemic.
Currently, Lebanon has 1,934 COVID-19 patients in hospital beds, 853 in critical condition in intensive care unit beds, and 241 on mechanical ventilation.
So far, 190,101 people in the country have been vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, whereas 101,140 have received the second dose and completed vaccination.
Between Thursday and Friday, the first and second doses were administered to 6,928 and 2,537 people in Lebanon, respectively.
On Thursday, the Health Ministry recorded 3,510 infections and 37 fatalities.
