Lebanon registered 1,017 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Thursday, according to the Health Ministry’s latest report on the outbreak.
In addition to the new infections, 25 virus-related deaths and 2,269 were recorded in the past 24 hours. So far, 7,415 COVID-19 patients in Lebanon have passed away, while 475,383 others have recovered from the disease.
The cumulative number of cases confirmed in Lebanon since the pandemic started has reached 531,234. Of those, 48,436 are active cases, taking into account the fatalities and recoveries. The total includes 2,691 infections confirmed among healthcare workers.
In the past 24 hours, 14,516 tests were administered across Lebanon to detect COVID-19. These included 10,708 PCR tests administered locally, 3,203 PCR tests administered at the Beirut Airport, 164 PCR tests administered at land border crossings, and 441 antigen tests.
According to the report, Lebanon currently has 972 COVID-19 patients in hospital beds, 478 in critical condition in intensive care, and 162 on mechanical ventilation.
Between Wednesday and Thursday, 8,254 people in Lebanon received their first vaccine dose against COVID-19, while 5,115 others received the second dose in the same period.
In total, 321,682 and 186,708 people have been vaccinated with the first and second vaccine doses in Lebanon, respectively.
On Wednesday, the Health Ministry confirmed 1,012 infections and 22 deaths.
