Lebanon logged 1,182 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Tuesday, according to the Health Ministry.
In its latest report on the outbreak, the Ministry indicated that 26 COVID-19 patients in Lebanon had passed away between Monday and Tuesday, whereas 8,734 patients recovered in the same period.
Since the pandemic started, 7,197 virus-related fatalities and 453,865 full recoveries have been recorded in Lebanon. In total, 2,687 healthcare workers in Lebanon have tested positive for COVID-19 so far.
Taking into account the cumulative number of confirmed infections recorded thus far, which is now 522,763, Lebanon currently has 61,701 active infections.
In the past 24 hours, 16,471 tests were administered in Lebanon to detect COVID-19, including 13,282 local PCR tests, 2,377 airport PCR tests, 184 PCR tests at border crossings, and 628 antigen tests.
Of the total number of active infections, 1,379 are hospitalized cases, 632 are in critical condition in intensive care unit beds, and 189 are on mechanical ventilation, according to the Health Ministry’s data.
As of the time of writing, 150,337 people in Lebanon have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, including 3,857 who received the second dose in the past 24 hours.
In the same period, the first vaccine shot was administered to 5,008 individuals, raising the total number of people who have received the first shot in Lebanon to 282,567.
On Monday, the Health Ministry confirmed 642 infections and 29 fatalities.
