Lebanon Records New COVID-19 Cases & Deaths

Lebanon registered 1,336 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Thursday, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.

The Ministry’s latest report on the outbreak indicated that 25 COVID-19 patients had passed away in Lebanon between Wednesday and Thursday and that 12,643 others recovered in the same period.

Since the pandemic started, Lebanon has recorded 7,249 virus-related deaths and 457,758 recoveries in total. The cumulative number of infections confirmed since the country’s first case was detected in February 2020 is now 525,577, of which 60,570 are active cases.

There has been a total of 2,689 infections confirmed among healthcare workers in Lebanon so far, including one who tested positive in the past 24 hours.

15,386 tests to detect the virus were administered in the same period, including 12,351 local PCR tests, 2,419 airport PCR tests, 104 PCR tests at border crossings, and 512 antigen tests, according to the report.

As of the time of writing, 1,309 COVID-19 patients in Lebanon are hospitalized, 598 are in critical condition and occupy intensive care unit beds, and 171 are on mechanical ventilation.

4,541 people were given the first vaccine dose against the disease in the past 24 hours, during which 6,106 others received their second vaccine dose.

In total, 294,822 and 161,812 people in Lebanon have been vaccinated with the first and second vaccine shots, respectively.

On Wednesday, the Health Ministry recorded 1478 infections and 27 fatalities.
