Lebanon registered 1,478 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Wednesday, the Health Ministry said in its daily report on the outbreak.
The new infections raise the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Lebanon to 524,241, of which 61,902 are active cases, considering that 7,224 virus-related fatalities and 445,115 full recoveries have been recorded so far.
In the past 24 hours, 27 COVID-19 patients in Lebanon passed away and 1,250 others recovered. One healthcare worker tested positive in the same period, which puts the total number of COVID-19-positive healthcare workers in Lebanon at 2,688.
Between Tuesday and Wednesday, 15,122 tests to detect COVID-19 were administered across Lebanon: 13,161 local PCR tests, 1,609 airport PCR tests, and 352 antigen tests.
Of the total number of infections Lebanon currently has, 1,343 are in hospital beds, 601 are in critical condition in intensive care unit beds, and 173 are on mechanical ventilation, according to the Health Ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 7,678 people in Lebanon were vaccinated with the first dose against COVID-19, while 5,288 others received the second dose in the same period.
In total, the first and second vaccine shots have been administered to 290,281 and 155,706 people in the country, respectively.
On Tuesday, the Health Ministry confirmed 1,182 infections and 26 deaths.
