Lebanon recorded 1,888 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Monday, the Health Ministry said in its report on the outbreak.

In total, Lebanon has registered 376,938 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic, 77,925 of which are active cases, as 294,270 recoveries and 4,743 fatalities related to the disease have been recorded so far.

According to the report, 2,554 of the total cases are healthcare workers, 4 of whom tested positive in the past 24 hours.

In the same period, 2,680 COVID-19 patients recovered while 51 others passed away.

Currently, 2,192 patients are in hospital beds across the country, 898 are in critical condition and occupy intensive care unit beds, and 276 are on mechanical ventilation.

Between Sunday and Monday, a total of 8,337 tests to detect COVID-19 were administered, including 5,378 local PCR tests, 2,511 airport PCR tests, and 448 antigen tests, as per the Health Ministry’s data.

Lebanon recently received its second and third shipments of COVID-19 vaccines as its vaccination campaign progresses.

A recent report, however, indicated that a significant number of people in Lebanon had received the vaccine without registering to do so on the official online registration platform.

This comes a week after a scandal broke out from the Parliament, where Lebanese officials jumped the queue and got vaccinated exceptionally, outside the boundaries of the national plan.

Meanwhile, Lebanon continues to ease lockdown measures, giving many businesses and services permission to operate again starting Monday, while health experts are warning against it, expecting Lebanon to get hit by a fourth wave of COVID-19 cases.

On Sunday, the Health Ministry confirmed 3,100 COVID-19 cases and 42 fatalities.
