Lebanon Records 2,501 New COVID-19 Cases & 31 Deaths

Lebanon recorded 2,501 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Thursday, according to the Health Ministry.

In its daily report on the outbreak, the Ministry indicated that 31 COVID-19 patients had passed away between Wednesday and Thursday and that 3,449 others had undergone recovery in the same period.

This raises the total number of virus-related fatalities in Lebanon to 6,809 and that of full recoveries to 416,624.

It also puts active infections in the country at 81,367 of the cumulative number of cases confirmed by the Health Ministry since the beginning of the pandemic, which currently stands at 504,800.

The cumulative infections include 2,672 healthcare workers, of whom 1 tested positive in the past 24 hours, according to the report.

In the same period, 19,166 tests to detect COVID-19 were detected across Lebanon, including 16,314 PCR tests administered locally, 1,929 PCR tests administered at Beirut Airport, 148 PCR tests administered at border crossings, and 775 antigen tests.

As of the time of writing, 1,790 COVID-19 patients in Lebanon are in hospital beds, 795 are in critical condition in intensive care unit beds, and 225 are on mechanical ventilation.

On Wednesday, the Health Ministry confirmed 2,460 infections and 40 fatalities.
