Lebanon Records New COVID-19 Cases & Deaths

Lebanon recorded 2,668 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Tuesday, the Health Ministry said in its daily report on the outbreak.

In the past 24 hours, 48 COVID-19-related fatalities and 1,950 full recoveries were registered in Lebanon.

In total, 6,184 people have passed away due to the disease and 364,689 others have recovered from it in the country.

This places active infections at 94,134 of the total 465,007 cases confirmed in Lebanon since the beginning of the pandemic. Of the total infections, 2,651 are healthcare workers, according to the report.

In the past 24 hours, 24,003 tests to detect COVID-19 were administered across Lebanon, including 19,941 PCR tests administered locally, 2,821 PCR tests administered at Beirut Airport, 228 PCR tests administered at land border crossings, and 1,013 antigen tests.

In total, 3,539,320 tests have been administered in Lebanon since its first case was detected in February 2020.

As of the time of writing, 2,176 COVID-19 patients occupy hospital beds across Lebanon, 958 are in critical condition in intensive care unit beds, and 269 are on mechanical ventilation.

So far, 139,623 people in Lebanon have been vaccinated with the first COVID-19 vaccine dose, while 77,249 have received the second dose.

Between Monday and Tuesday, 6,589 individuals received the first vaccine shot and 4,700 others received the second shot.

On Monday, the Health Ministry confirmed 1,277 infections and 40 fatalities.
