Lebanon Records New COVID-19 Cases & Deaths

Lebanon recorded 2,730 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Thursday, the Health Ministry said in its daily report on the outbreak.

The new infections raise the total number of cases confirmed since the virus was first detected in Lebanon to 348,810.

Of those, 93,664 cases are active, as 256,109 patients have recovered and 4,152 others have passed away so far. Between Wednesday and Thursday, 54 virus-related deaths and 4,305 full recoveries were recorded by the Health Ministry.

In the same period, 14,901 PCR tests were administered in Lebanon, including 12,861 local tests and 2,040 tests at the airport. In total, 2,850,522 PCR tests have been recorded in the country since February 2020.

As of the time of writing, 2,195 COVID-19 patients occupy hospital beds across the country, 918 are in critical condition in intensive care units, and 289 are on mechanical ventilation.

Several hospitals in the country launched vaccination campaigns on Thursday, including Minia Governmental Hospital, Dr. Abdullah Al-Rasi Governmental Hospital, and others.

LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital, which was recently supported by a $1-million donation from Lebanese-Saudi businessman Bahaa Hariri, launched on Wednesday what it called a Vaccination Village.

On the same day, the Health Ministry recorded 2,479 COVID-19 cases and 60 fatalities.
