Lebanon recorded 2,770 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Tuesday, the Health Ministry said in its daily report on the epidemic.
Of the new cases, 2,757 are local infections while 13 are among inbound tourists. The total number of confirmed cases in the country since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 305,842, of which 116,564 are active cases.
The positive cases recorded in the past 24 hours came out of 19,004 PCR conducted in the same period, including 17,512 local tests and 1,492 others at the airport. As of the time of writing, 2,624,113 PCR tests have been administered in Lebanon in total.
In the past 14 days, 3,827 per 100,000 people have taken PCR tests, and the positivity rate in the same period stands at 21.8%.
Between Monday and Tuesday, 81 patients passed away due to the virus and 2,789 others recovered.
In total, 3,226 virus-related fatalities and 186,052 full recoveries have been recorded since the outbreak started in Lebanon in February 2020.
As of Tuesday, 2,358 COVID-19 patients are under treatment in hospital beds, 942 are in critical condition in intensive care units, and 345 are on mechanical ventilation.
On Monday, the Health Ministry recorded 2,020 COVID-19 cases and 63 fatalities.
