Lebanon recorded 2,930 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Friday, the Health Ministry said in its daily report on the outbreak.
Between Thursday and Friday, 2,361 COVID-19 patients underwent recovery and 48 others passed away, raising the total number of confirmed virus-related fatalities to 5,278 and that of full recoveries to 321,990.
This puts active infections at 84,571 of the 411,839 total cases recorded since the start of the pandemic. Of the total cases, 2,623 are healthcare workers, of whom 3 tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours, according to the report.
In the same period, 21,288 tests were administered in Lebanon to detect COVID-19, including 17,375 PCR tests administered locally, 3,036 administered at Beirut Airport, and 877 antigen tests.
As of the time of writing, 2,361 COVID-19 patients in Lebanon are in hospital beds, 951 are in critical condition and occupy intensive care unit beds, and 295 are on mechanical ventilation.
The Health Ministry’s data shows that so far, 90,287 people in Lebanon have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, including 2,573 who received it in the past 24 hours.
4,464 people received the second vaccine shot in the same period, raising the total number of people who have completed vaccination against the virus in Lebanon to 12,982.
On Thursday, the Health Ministry registered 3,518 COVID-19 cases and 50 fatalities.
