Lebanon Record New COVID-19 Cases & Deaths

Lebanon recorded 2,957 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Saturday, the Lebanese Health Ministry said.

The Ministry’s daily report on the outbreak indicates that 45 people in Lebanon had passed away due to COVID-19 between Friday and Saturday, raising the total number of local virus-related fatalities to 6,058.

On the other hand, 3,424 recoveries were recorded in the same period, which places the total number of full recoveries registered in Lebanon since the beginning of the pandemic at 360,244.

With that taken into account, Lebanon currently has 92,036 active COVID-19 infections.

The cumulative number of confirmed infections since the first case was detected in Lebanon, on the other hand, is 458,338, of which 2,650 are healthcare workers, including 1 who tested positive in the past 24 hours.

The Health Ministry’s report shows that 21,700 tests to detect the virus were administered across Lebanon between Friday and Saturday, including 16,970 local PCR tests, 3,497 airport PCR tests, 249 PCR tests at land border crossings, and 984 antigen tests.

As for the number of beds occupied by COVID-19 patients in Lebanon, it currently stands at 2,300.

Additionally, critical cases that occupy intensive care unit beds are at 978 of the total infections, and 283 patients are on mechanical ventilation at the time of writing.

So far, 69,013 people in Lebanon have been vaccinated with both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, including 4,257 who received their second dose in the past 24 hours.

In the same period, 2,730 individuals received their first vaccine shot, raising the total number of people who have taken the first shot in Lebanon to 125,106.

On Friday, Lebanon registered 3,100 COVID-19 infections and 49 deaths.
