Lebanon registered 2,963 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Friday, the Health Ministry said in its daily report on the outbreak.
Between Thursday and Friday, 60 COVID-19 patients in Lebanon passed away and 3,303 others recovered.
This raises the total number of virus-related fatalities in Lebanon to 6,346 and that of full recoveries to 377,136, placing active infections at 91,443 of the 474,925 total cases confirmed since the beginning of the pandemic.
Of the total cases, 2,661 are healthcare workers, including 5 who became infected in the past 24 hours.
The cumulative number of infections also includes 925 patients who are considered in critical condition and who occupy intensive care unit beds, and 253 who are on mechanical ventilation.
In total, 2,092 COVID-19 patients in Lebanon are in hospital beds.
According to the report, 21,489 tests were administered across Lebanon in the past 24 hours to detect the virus.
These tests include 15,755 PCR tests administered locally, 4,905 PCR tests administered at Beirut Airport, and 829 antigen tests.
Since the launch of its vaccination campaign, 87,702 people have completed their vaccination against the virus in Lebanon, including 3,191 who received the second vaccine shot in the past 24 hours.
In the same period, the first vaccine dose was administered to 4,761 individuals in the country, which raises the total number of people who have received the first dose in Lebanon to 157,999.
It’s worth mentioning that Lebanon is set to receive 1.5 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine within 3 months.
On Thursday, the country registered 3,562 infections and 52 fatalities.
