Lebanon Records 3,071 New COVID-19 Cases & 98 Deaths

Lebanon recorded 3,071 coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Friday, the Lebanese Health Ministry confirmed.

In its daily report on the epidemic, the Ministry revealed that a record 98 COVID-19 patients had passed away due to the virus in the past 24 hours, and 2,106 others fully recovered from it.

This raises the total of recoveries to 194,430 and that of fatalities to 3,495 and puts active cases at 117,415 of the 315,340 total cases recorded since the outbreak started in Lebanon last year.

According to the report, 2,430 of the confirmed cases are medical workers. In the past 24 hours, 1 cases among medical staff were registered.

In the same period, 15,351 PCR tests were conducted across the country, including 13,224 local tests and 2,127 administered at Beirut Airport.

As of Friday, 2,287 patients occupy hospital beds, 920 are in critical condition in intensive care units, and 327 are on mechanical ventilation.

As the arrival date of the first vaccine shipment approaches, Lebanon will begin a gradual reopening after a 3-week-long lockdown that included an all-day curfew. The lockdown officially ends on Monday, February 8th.

On Thursday, the Health Ministry recorded 3,107 COVID-19 cases and 82 fatalities.
