Lebanon recorded 3,100 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Friday, the Health Ministry said in its daily report on the outbreak, which brings the total confirmed cases since the beginning of the pandemic to 455,381.
Currently, 92,548 of these cases are active and 2,649 are healthcare workers, 4 of whom tested positive in the past 24 hours.
In the same period, 49 people passed away due to the disease, and 3,478 others recovered, raising the total number of fatalities in the country to 6,013 and that of full recoveries to 356,820.
Between Thursday and Friday, a total of 20,003 tests to detect COVID-19 were administered, including 15,046 local PCR tests, 3,852 tests at Beirut Airport, and 1,105 antigen tests.
As of the time of writing, 2,319 hospital beds across Lebanon are occupied by COVID-19 patients. Of the total infections, 978 are in critical condition and occupy ICU beds and 287 are on mechanical ventilation.
Since Lebanon received its first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines, 64,756 people have been vaccinated with both vaccine doses, including 4,936 who received the second vaccine shot in the past 24 hours.
On the other hand, 122,376 people have received the first vaccine shot, of whom 3,096 received it in the same period.
Worth noting that all Beirut airport personnel, including the MEA staff, will now receive the vaccine.
On Thursday, the Health Ministry registered 3,560 infections and 61 fatalities.
