Lebanon recorded 3,369 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Thursday, the Health Ministry said in its daily report on the outbreak.
In the past 24 hours, 53 COVID-19-related deaths and 2,517 recoveries were registered, raising the total number of fatalities confirmed so far to 4,919 and that of full recoveries to 300,923.
With that taken into account, the number of active infections currently stands at 81,026 of the total 386,868 infections confirmed in Lebanon since the beginning of the pandemic.
The total cases include 2,582 healthcare workers, of whom 6 tested positive between Wednesday and Thursday.
In the same period, 20,824 tests to detect COVID-19 were conducted — 17,256 local PCR tests, 2,413 PCR tests at the Beirut Airport, 277 tests at land border crossings, and 878 antigen tests, according to the report.
As of Thursday, 2,157 patients occupy hospital beds across the country, 885 are critical cases that occupy intensive care unit beds, and 286 are on mechanical ventilation.
On Wednesday, the Health Ministry confirmed 3,463 COVID-19 cases and 61 fatalities.
