Lebanon Records 3,393 New COVID-19 Cases & 50 Deaths

Lebanon recorded 3,393 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Wednesday, the Health Ministry said in its daily report on the outbreak.

Since the virus was first detected in Lebanon back in February 2020, the country has registered a total of 468,400 COVID-19 infections, of which 91,479 are active cases.

Additionally, 2,654 of the infection cases are healthcare workers, of whom 3 tested positive between Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to the report, 6,234 people have passed away due to COVID-19 in Lebanon since the beginning of the pandemic and a total of 370,687 others have undergone recovery.

These include 50 virus-related fatalities and 5,998 full recoveries registered in the past 24 hours.

In the same period, 22,607 tests to detect the virus were administered in Lebanon.

These include 18,669 PCR tests administered locally, 2,888 PCR tests administered at Beirut Airport, 255 PCR tests administered at land border crossings, and 894 antigen tests.

As of the time of writing, 2,194 COVID-19 patients are in hospital beds across Lebanon, 963 are in critical condition and occupy intensive care unit beds, and 270 are on mechanical ventilation.

Since Lebanon received its first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines, 146,451 people have been vaccinated with the first dose, while 81,045 others have received the second dose.

In the past 24 hours, the first and second shots were administered to 6,828 and 3,796 individuals respectively.

On Tuesday, Lebanon confirmed 2,668 infections and 48 fatalities.
