Lebanon Records 3,469 New COVID-19 Cases & 52 Deaths

Lebanon recorded 3,469 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Thursday, according to the Health Ministry’s daily report on the outbreak.

In addition to the infections, between Wednesday and Thursday, Lebanon registered 52 virus-related fatalities and 3,453 recoveries.

Consequently, the total numbers of fatalities and full recoveries have risen to 4,560 and 281,194 respectively.

This puts the number of active cases in Lebanon at 80,565 of the total 366,319 cases confirmed since the virus was first detected locally in February 2020.

According to the report, 10 healthcare workers in Lebanon tested positive for COVID-19 between Wednesday and Thursday. 2,539 healthcare workers have been infected so far.

The 3,469 cases recorded in the past 24 hours emerged from 19,681 tests conducted in the same period, including 16,963 local PCR tests, 2,060 airport PCR tests, and 484 antigen tests.

As of the time of writing, 2,168 patients occupy hospital beds across the country, 913 are in critical condition in intensive care units, and 286 are on mechanical ventilation, as per the Health Ministry’s data.

On Wednesday, the Ministry confirmed 3,513 COVID-19 cases and 62 deaths.
