Lebanon Records COVID-19 Cases and new Deaths

Lebanon recorded 3,560 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Thursday, according to the Health Ministry.

In its daily report on the outbreak, the Ministry indicated that 61 people had passed away due to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. On the other hand, 2,648 patients underwent full recovery in the same period.

In total, the number of virus-related fatalities in Lebanon currently stands at 5,964, while that of recoveries is at 353,342.

Of the 452,281 total infections confirmed in Lebanon since the beginning of the pandemic, 92,975 are active cases. Additionally, 2,645 are healthcare workers, of whom 1 tested positive for the virus between Wednesday and Thursday.

In the past 24 hours, 21,181 tests to detect COVID-19 were administered in the country, including 17,442 PCR tests administered locally, 2,444 PCR tests administered at Beirut Airport, 203 PCR tests administered at land border crossings, and 1,092 antigen tests.

As of the time of writing, 2,364 patients are undergoing treatment in hospital beds across Lebanon, 982 are in critical condition and occupy intensive care unit beds, and 283 are on mechanical ventilation.

So far, 119,280 people in Lebanon have been vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID-19, including 3,353 in the past 24 hours.

On the other hand, 59,820 individuals have received the second shot, 5,159 of whom received it between Wednesday and Thursday.

On Wednesday, the Health Ministry confirmed 3,856 COVID-19 infections and 53 fatalities.
