Lebanon registered 3,581 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Wednesday, the Health Ministry indicated in its daily report on the outbreak.
According to the report, 46 COVID-19 patients passed away and 2,017 others underwent full recovery in the past 24 hours, raising the cumulative number of virus-related fatalities and recoveries to 5,180 and 316,800 respectively.
The newly-confirmed infections raise the total number of positive cases recorded in Lebanon so far to 405,391, of which 81,427 are active cases.
The Health Ministry’s data shows that 2,615 of the total cases are healthcare workers, of whom 5 tested positive for the virus in the past 24 hours.
In the same period, 20,201 tests to detect COVID-19 were administered across the country, including 17,632 local PCR tests, 1,597 PCR tests at the Beirut Airport, and 972 antigen tests.
In total, 3,199,801 tests have been administered in Lebanon since the virus was first detected.
As of Wednesday, 2,353 COVID-19 patients in Lebanon are undergoing treatment in hospital beds, 936 are in critical condition in intensive care units, and 301 are on mechanical ventilation.
So far, 85,603 people in Lebanon have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, including 3,613 who received it between Tuesday and Wednesday.
On the other hand, 5,110 people have received the second vaccine dose, including 2,590 in the past 24 hours.
On Tuesday, the Health Ministry confirmed 3,939 COVID-19 cases and 45 fatalities.
