Lebanon recorded 642 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases on Monday, according to the Health Ministry’s latest report on the outbreak.
The new report indicated that 521,581 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in Lebanon since its first case was detected in February 2020.
This number includes 516,382 cases confirmed locally and 5,199 cases confirmed among inbound travelers at Beirut-Rafik Hariri International Airport.
Of the cumulative number of infections, 69,279 are active cases, as 7,171 virus-related fatalities and 445,131 recoveries have been registered so far, including 29 deaths confirmed in the past 24 hours.
The total number of infections also includes 2,687 healthcare workers, 1 of whom tested positive for COVID-19 between Sunday and Monday, according to the report.
In the same period, 5,738 tests were administered in Lebanon to detect the virus, namely 2,993 local PCR tests, 2,549 airport PCR tests, and 196 antigen tests.
In total, 3,937,462 tests to detect COVID-19 have been administered in Lebanon since the beginning of the pandemic.
As of Monday, there are 1,460 COVID-19 patients in hospital beds in Lebanon, 665 critical cases in intensive care unit beds, and 183 patients on mechanical ventilation.
On Sunday, the Health Ministry recorded 1,324 COVID-19 infections and 24 deaths.
