Lebanon’s Only Running Power Plant Will Be Forcibly Out Of Service As Of Tomorrow

Electricite Du Liban (EDL) reported that the Al-Zahrani power plant will be forcibly put out of service on Friday, August 26th afternoon due to its depletion of gas oil.

With Al-Zahrani out of service, the cessation of energy production on all Lebanese territories will take place, noting that it will be back on immediately after supplying EDL with the necessary fuel.

EDL justified putting the power plant out of service, pointing out that it was not supplied any shipment of gas oil allocated for the month of August 2022 according to the exchange agreement between Iraq and Lebanon.

Based on the fuel shortage, which is beyond EDL’s control and responsibility, it was forced to take this action.
