Lebanon’s national basketball team, The Cedars, achieved a big win over its Philippines counterpart, scoring 95-80 at the FIBA Asia Cup 2022.
The Cedars team, which ranks 54th in the world and 9th in Asia, is now the only regional winning team so far in the current tournament, after Syria, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Bahrain lost their first matches.
The Lebanese basketball team will now face the New Zealand team on Friday, July 15th, to determine the “leader” of Group D, which qualifies directly to the quarter-finals.
Additionally, the teams that occupy the 2nd and 3rd places in each group will play a match to cross into the quarter-finals.
The Lebanese people are patiently waiting for the results of the FIBA Asia Cup 2022 matches, which are hosted in Indonesia until July 24th. They are showing support for their national basketball team that is playing against major teams and winning despite the circumstances.
