Lebanon Basketball Team Just Beat New Zealand At The FIBA Asian Championship

Lebanon’s basketball team, which is ranked 54th in the world, just defeated New Zealand, which is ranked 27th in the world in the tournament event held in Jakarta, Indonesia.

The score was 87-72 in favor of Lebanon. With that, Lebanon has now qualified for the quarter-finals after securing the top spot in Group D.

The teams that ranked 2nd and 3rd in each group will play a match to qualify for the next round.

Lebanon will have its last match in the 1st round this Sunday at 7:00 (Beirut time) against India.

The 16 basketball teams participating in the Asian Cup are divided into 4 groups.

  • 1st group: KSA, Jordan, Australia, and Indonesia
  • 2nd group: China, Taiwan, South Korea, and Bahrain.
  • 3rd group: Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, and Syria.
  • 4th group: Lebanon, New Zealand, the Philippines, and India.

The FIBA Asia Cup is an international basketball tournament that takes place every 4 years between the men’s national basketball teams of Asia and Oceania.
