In their 6th and final match of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Cup 2021 Qualifiers, the Cedars fastened their position at the top of Group D, closing their remarkable Qualifiers run with an unblemished winning streak.
During its Window 3 match against India on Monday afternoon, the Lebanese team delivered a spectacular performance despite lacking 4 of its international players.
The match, held in Manama, Bahrain, started off with a back-and-forth between the two teams, but Lebanon was quick to capture a 10-point lead around the middle of the opening half.
Displaying spectacular offense, the Lebanese players repeatedly penetrated their rivals’ tight defense and scored, reaching the half-time break with a 7-point lead, which they had raised to 21 points by the end of the 3rd quarter.
With this win, Lebanon, which had already secured its qualification for the FIBA Asia 2021 Cup in November, closed Window 3 on a high note, retaining the first spot in Group D of the Qualifiers and a 100% winning percentage.
It’s worth noting that Lebanon had scored a decisive 115-60 victory against India during the opening Window 2 of the Qualifiers.
On Saturday, the Cedars seized their 5th win against Bahrain, with a final score of 102-87.
The FIBA Asia Cup 2021 tournament will take place from 16-28 August in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.
