Lebanon Will Reportedly Execute 7 People Linked To Kaftoun Crime
Annahar | LBCI

Seven individuals linked to the Kaftoun crime that claimed the lives of 3 citizens in August 2020 will be executed, LBCI reported on Thursday.

Judge Samaranda Nassar has issued her indictment in the Kaftoun crime and demanded the execution of 7 of the 14 defendants linked to the massacre, according to LBCI.

It is to note that the other 7 defendants in the case were killed during a security operation on a previous date.

Judge Nassar’s decision comes after confirmation that at the time of the crime, the defendants were headed to the Koura District with the aim of carrying out a terrorist operation, not a robbery.

The defendants have been referred to the Criminal Court in North Lebanon for trial.

It’s worth noting that after the crime took place in August, the individuals linked to it were found to share a history of terrorist activity.

Security forces had been able to locate fingerprints inside the car that the perpetrators had left behind after fleeing the scene

Recent reports indicated that the armed group responsible for the Kaftoun massacre was similar to an ISIS-linked terrorist group that was recently arrested in Lebanon.
