Lebanon’s national basketball team is set to participate in the third edition of the international virtual championship titled “FIBA Esports Open III 2021.”
60 national teams from around the world, distributed across six regional conferences, will compete in the championship.
Lebanon is one of six countries in the Middle East Conference (Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the UAE, and Kuwait).
The Lebanese team (5 active players and 2 reserve players) will face the Emirati team on the first day of the competition – April 16th – at 6:40 PM Beirut time, before taking on the Bahraini team at 7:20 PM.
Group stage games will take place on Friday, to be followed by the best-of-three Play-Off series on Saturday and Sunday, according to a press release by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA).
The games will be played virtually in the NBA 2K21 game, made available on FIBA’s digital channels, and live-streamed on the Federation’s Facebook, Twitch, and YouTube channels.
The Lebanese Basketball Federation will also stream the games on its Facebook page. The FIBA Esports Open III competition will go on until May 9th.
It is to note that, in November, Lebanon’s national basketball team qualified for the International Basketball Federation Asia Cup 2021 after an undefeated run in the Qualifiers.
