Israel’s recent actions have sparked alarm as a series of violent attacks have been unleashed, targeting civilians in residential areas.
These relentless assaults have resulted in tragic casualties among innocent families and individuals, particularly in the southern regions of Lebanon and the city of Baalbek.
The recent attacks by Israel have been described as the most severe, occurring on the 11th and 12th of the current month.
These attacks specifically targeted civilians in residential areas near Baalbek city and surrounding villages, inflicting casualties and injuries upon innocent individuals.
In response, Lebanon’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants on Wednesday issued a statement declaring that “Minister Abdallah Bou Habib has instructed the relevant departments within the ministry to file a complaint before the United Nations Security Council through Lebanon’s permanent mission to the United Nations in New York, following a series of Israeli attacks deemed the most violent, on the 11th and 12th of the current month […]”
In its statement, the ministry highlighted a concerning matter related to “the escalation of violence in regions distant from southern Lebanese borders.”
This escalation suggests Israel’s intent to expand the conflict and draw the entire region into a potentially devastating war, triggered by such aggressive actions.
The ministry implied that “the Israeli government sees this conflict as a means to divert attention from internal challenges and seeks to use it as a lifeline out of its domestic predicaments.”
Therefore, the ministry “called upon the international community to exert pressure on Israel to cease its escalating assaults, which are rapidly intensifying.
It reiterated its plea for all members of the Security Council to condemn Israel’s aggressions against Lebanon and to fully enforce Security Council Resolution 1701 (2006) to achieve enduring stability and peace along Lebanon’s southern borders.”
Also on Wednesday, and amidst ongoing cross-border tensions, an Israeli missile fired from a drone targeted a car near the northern entrance of Tyre earlier today, close to the Rashidiya Palestinian refugee camp.
The attack killed Hadi Mustafa, the logistics support officer of Al-Qassam Brigades, along with a civilian and a Syrian man on a motorcycle near Mustafa’s car while two other individuals were also wounded according to the National News Agency.
In addition to the Rashidiya Palestinian refugee camp, Israeli warplanes and artillery carried out targeted strikes on several locations, including Marjayoun, Yater, al-Qantara, and the outskirts of Naqoura.
Wednesday’s attacks marked a continuation of the ongoing military actions in the region.
