Breaking news: Lebanon’s prime minister, Hassan Diab, has announced the Lebanese government’s resignation.

A move set to spark answers for the nation’s cry, in a country paralyzed by the disastrous blast that happened on August 4th.

Diab made the announcement in a televised speech addressed to the nation on Monday, almost one week after the blast.

“I discovered that corruption is larger than the state, and that the state cannot overpower it,” Diab said in his televised speech.

He continues to explain that “the crime” was the result of endemic corruption and called for the trying of those responsible for the deadly blast.

Diab’s announcement came several hours after a dozen Lebanese officials have resigned from their posts following deadly Beirut port explosion.

Tensions have been boiling in the country after the explosion that on Tuesday tore through the capital, killing some 200 people, wounding 6,000 others, destroying countless businesses, and that’s in addition to the too many missing victims.

The former Prime Minister ended his speech by saying: “May God protect Lebanon. May God protect Lebanon. May God protect Lebanon.”

With that, the Lebanese government is dissolved.

What’s next? People are wondering. Here’s what you need to know: What happens next when the Lebanese government gets dissolved.
