The idea to provide the Lebanese people with free internet for 1 month is being proposed in the Coronvirus’s follow-up committee as a way to keep people home in order to contain the spread of the virus.
Restaurants, cafes, sports centers, gyms, and nightclubs are all closing down in an effort to keep people from grouping together and further spreading the virus. PM Diab announced today that the security forces will be ensuring that measure is implemented across the country.
People all over the world, and not only in Lebanon, are being strongly advised to stay indoors in order to contain the spread of the virus.
The World Health Organization has just officially declared the coronavirus a pandemic, and numerous companies accord the world are asking their employees to work from home.
The number of cases in Lebanon has recently shot up to 61 confirmed cases across the country and 2 people have already died as a result of the virus.
Hence, providing free internet to keep the Lebanese entertained or able to work from home, when applicable, can materialize as a helpful initiative.
However, whether or not this policy will actually take place is yet to be seen as the country is currently facing a devastating economic crisis.
