The Lebanese National Basketball team won the King Abdullah II tournament in Amman, Jordan, on February 14th, in the final match over the Jordanian national team, by a difference of 3 points, and a score of 71-68.
Lebanon’s participation in the 9th International King Abdullah II Basketball Games comes in preparation for the two matches that are scheduled in the first part of the Asian qualifiers for the Asian Championship Finals 2021.
The tournament ended with a match against host Jordan on February 14th and with the final victory of the Lebanese team. Certainly, these series of wins have restored hope that the basketball wheel would spin again on Lebanese stadiums.
From her side, the Minister of Information, Dr. Manal Abdel Samad Najd, also congratulated Lebanon and the team in a tweet.
“Congratulations to Lebanon, the victory of our basketball in Jordan, and thank you for the champions who contributed to raising the name of our country high,” she said.
She went on expressing her thanks on behalf of Lebanon to the Jordanian Prime Minister Omar Razzaz and the Minister of Information Amjad Al-Adayleh for their cooperation in broadcasting the championship exclusively on Lebanon TV.

The King Abdullah II tournament was scheduled two weeks before the beginning of the first official rounds of the Asian Cup 2021 qualifiers in order to prepare the participating teams for the Asian Cup qualifications.
