Lebanon Kicked Off Its Winning Streak At The 7th WAFF Women Championship

Lebanon’s Women’s Football Team beat its Palestinian counterpart 3-0 in the opening of the 7th WAFF Women Championship 2022, hosted at the Petra Stadium in Amman, Jordan.

The Cedar women opened the scoring in the 9th minute through Sophie Fayyad after a superb shot passing over the head of the Palestinian goalkeeper.

Lebanon dominated most of the first half and had many chances without scoring goals, all while controlling the first half of the match with a 1-0 lead.

The Lebanese National Team continued to dominate at the beginning of the second half, and in the 74th minute, Christie Maalouf scored Lebanon’s second goal.

Lily Iskandar also added Lebanon’s third goal after a pass from Natalie Matar.

Lebanon will meet Jordan in the second round on Thursday, September 1, followed by a match against Syria on Sunday, September 4, 2022.
