Lebanon’s U20 Football Team won their first victory in the Group 9 opening round of the 2023 AFC U20 Asian Cup qualifiers, beating Cambodia at a match held at the Central State Stadium of Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
The two teams took control of the match from the beginning, however, the Lebanese team was able to score 1-0 after a series of passes that started from the defensive line, giving the Lebanese Mohamad Sadek the chance to score Lebanon’s winning goal in the 9th minute.
During the second half, Cambodia struggled to score any goal as the Lebanese players and goalkeeper prevented any chance for their opponent to equalize the scores.
The 2nd round of the group competition will be held on Friday, September 16th, with Lebanon facing Tajikistan at 6:00 pm (Beirut time).
The 1st place team in each group and the “top 5” 2nd place teams in 10 groups will then qualify for the finals to join the host Uzbekistan.
