Lebanon is set to receive 1.5 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine within 3 months, an official announced on Friday.
Abdul Rahman Al-Bizri, the head of Lebanon’s National Committee for the Coronavirus Vaccine, revealed the news during an interview with the Al-Jadeed news channel.
“It was confirmed today that no less than a million and a half doses of the Pfizer vaccine will arrive in Lebanon within 3 months,” Al-Bizri stated.
“There will be vaccination affluence in Lebanon,” he added, noting that each person who completes vaccination in Lebanon can acquire a certificate recognized internationally.
Last Friday, Lebanon received a shipment of 50,000 doses of the Sputnik V vaccine, which is part of a 1-million-dose batch purchased by the private sector.
Lebanon’s private sector has gotten increasingly involved in boosting the vaccination process since the country launched its inoculation campaign in mid-February.
The campaign took off after Lebanon closed a deal that secured it 2 million Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine shots.
As of April 1st, 153,238 people in Lebanon have been vaccinated with the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, while 84,511 have received the second dose.
