Lebanon’s Tennis Team Defeats Monaco In The Davis Cup

The Lebanese tennis team settled its meeting with Monaco and won it 3-2 in the important and exciting confrontation that took place during the Davis Cup tennis competition organized by the Lebanese Tennis Federation at Notre Dame University Stadium.

With its victory over Monaco, Lebanon took a big step toward qualifying for international forums, as Lebanese players and their coach, Fadi Youssef fought valiantly and proved that Lebanese tennis can succeed against major teams.

After Lebanon led Monaco 2-0 at the end of the 1st day (Friday, September 16), 3 matches were played on Saturday, September 17, 2022.

In the doubles category, Monaco’s Roman Arneodo and Hugo Nys beat Lebanese Benjamin Hassan and Hasan Ibrahim in a match that lasted 2 hours and 22 minutes.

The 4th match brought together the Lebanese Benjamin Hassan (ranked No. 1 in his team) and Valentin Vacherot (seeded No. 1 in Monaco), resulted in the guest player winning by 2 sets to 0, and the two teams tied 2-2 after a match that lasted 1 hour and 55 minutes.

The 2 teams played the 5th and decisive match between the Lebanese Hadi Habib (ranked 2 in his team) and Hugo Nys (seeded 3 in Monaco) when the Lebanese succeeded in winning the decisive match.

This win boosted ” The Cedars” chances of returning to the ranks of tennis tournaments, to face its next opponent, which will be determined later in March.
