Olympic trap shooter Ray Bassil secured a gold medal at the Trap Shooting World Cup held in Baku, Azerbaijan.
During the qualifying rounds, Bassil displayed exceptional skill, hitting 114 out of 125 targets.
In the semifinals, she maintained her stellar performance, scoring 44 out of 55. This victory catapulted her to the top of the podium with Penny Smith from Australia finishing second and Erik Sessa from Italy taking third place.
Claiming the top spot and earning the gold medal in Baku, Azerbaijan, Bassil expressed her gratitude and pride, acknowledging the victory as a testament to her hard work, dedication, and unwavering focus.
The competition served as a crucial part of Bassil’s preparation for the upcoming Paris Olympics this Summer.
With her sights set on representing Lebanon, the champion shooter is poised to compete in the 2024 Olympic Games, scheduled to take place in Paris, France.
Bassil’s previous gold medal victory dates back to 2016 at the International Shooting Sport Federation 2016 World Cup, she has been involved in her sport since the age of 14 when she would go out with her father on shooting trips.
She also previously ranked 7th in the standings of the Asian Shotgun Championship.
