Lebanon’s Women Football Team Just Won West Asia Championship!

Lebanon’s young women’s national football team (Lebanese girls under 18 years old) was just awarded champions of West Asia by defeating the host team Bahrain (3-0) and achieving five wins throughout the tournament.

The game was held in Bahrain on Monday, January 6, after 7 days of competing against other teams, which resulted in five big wins for the Lebanese National Football team.

The girls won big after scoring 3 goals against the Bahrain team, which qualified them to win the West Asian Cup.

The Lebanese junior women’s team had previously defeated its Palestinian counterpart (6-0) in the opening of the second West Asian Federation for the juniors football tournament, which was held at the Polo Stadium in the Jordanian capital Amman.

About two weeks ago, Christie Maalouf (4 goals), Wa’d Raed, and Lama Abdeldin were the ones who scored the goals. With this result, the Lebanese team topped the group, after Jordan and Syria tied negatively.

The Lebanese junior national team then defeated its Jordanian counterpart (1-0) at the Polo Stadium in the Jordanian capital, Amman, in the second round of the West Asian Championship.

The only goal of the match was scored by the Lebanese Amina Karim in the 38th minute with a direct free kick. The team received many public congratulations and wishes for a brighter future. Lebanese prime minister tweeted:

“Congratulations to our girls that are under the age of 18 on their honorable victory in the 2nd West Asian Federation for Young Women, winning 3-0 against the Bahrain national team, which was held in Manama. Congratulations to Leila Iskandar for scoring the highest numbers of goals; 7 goals.”

MP Paula Yacoubian also tweeted: “Young women from Lebanon won the West Asian Cup after beating Bahrain 3-0. These Lebanese young women reached the finals after their victory over Palestine 4-2, Jordan 3-0, UAE 3-1 and Iraq 4-0.”

“Leila Sikandar won the championship’s top scorer award, and the Lebanese team won the Fair Play award. Congratulations.”
